Jake Jones was watching Monday night football when the door bell rang. Jake opened the door to see two uniformed policemen.

Jake: "Can I help you?"

PoliceMan#1: "Are you Jake Jones?"

Jake: "Yes I am, what's wrong?"

Policeman#2: "Mr. Jones is Sarah Jones related to you?"

Jake: "Yes, she is my wife. Has something happened?"

Policeman#1: "Mr. Jones, may we come in and talk for a few minutes?"

Jake: "Sure, come in."

Policeman#1: "Have you been home all evening?"

Jake: "Yes, I'm watching Monday Night Football."

Policeman#2: "Who kicked off?"

Jake: "Dallas kicked off and number 26 of Denver received the kickoff and ran it for a 30 yard runback. Now I'm sure that's not what your here for, so tell me what's up."

Policeman#1: "So, when was the last time you seen your wife?"

Jake: "A couple of hours ago. Now either tell me what's going on or I insist on having a lawyer present."

Policeman#1: "Mr. Jones, I hate to tell you this but your wife has been admitted to the City Hospital."

Jake: "What happened, was she in an accident?"

Policeman#2: "No, she was robbed and beaten to the point that she had to be taken to the hospital."

Jake: "How badly beaten was she?"

Policeman#1: "We don't know the extent of her injuries."

Jake: "Are you finished, I would like to go and see about her?"

Policeman#2: "Yes, but we may have some more questions to ask you later."

Jake: "Fine, you know where to find me."

Jake: "I'm Jake Jones, where is my wife?"

ER attendant: "One moment and I'll see if I can get the Doctor on Duty to see you."

A couple of minutes went by.

Dr. Jackson: "Mr. Jones?"

Jake: "Yes, how is my wife? Is she hurt bad?"

Dr. Jackson: "Mr. Jones, she's not in good shape but her vital signs are stable. However she has substained multiple facial injuries and she is unconscious."

Jake: "How severe is her facial injuries?"

Dr. Jackson: "Her nose if broken and she will require some skin grafts. I suggest we do the skin grafts now to prevent infections from setting into the open lacerations. And I think we should wait on setting her nose until she has regained consciousness."

Jake: "When can I see her?"

Dr. Jackson: "I would suggest that you wait until she is moved to a room."

Jake: "I can't see her now?

Dr. Jackson: "If you insist on seeing her now, I can't stop you but you won't recognize her."

Jake: "Okay, but when will she regain consciousness?"

Dr. Jackson: "I dont know, maybe tonight maybe not for a long time, we don't know the condition of her brain injuries."

Jake: "Brain injuries? You didn't tell me she had brain injuries."

Dr. Jackson: "The fact that she is unconscious shows us that there is some level of brain damage but we can't tell the extent of the injuries at this time."

Jake: "Do what you have to do."

Dr. Jackson: "See the ER attendant, she will have you too sign some paper work for premission to do the skin grafts."

 The next morning Jake is found sitting beside Sarah's bed. Dr. Jackson enters the room.

Dr. Jackson: "Good morning, let's see how your wife looks this morning."

Jake: "She still hasn't awaken, can you tell yet when she will?"

Dr. Jackson: "No, we'll keep her on IVs and I'm sure she will soon."

Jake: "How long before the bandages comes off of her face?"

Dr. Jackson: "We'll change them a couple of times a day and after a few days, they should be off."

Jake: "What can I do?"

Dr. Jackson: "The only thing that you can do is be here with her whenever you can and talk to her and hold her hand.?"

Jake: "But Doctor, she is asleep, she can't hear me."

Dr. Jackson: "She is in what we call a coma, and many have come out of a coma and said they knew what was happening while they were asleep."

 Jake walks out of his wife's room and is confronted by one of the policeman that talked with him the night before.

Policeman: "Mr. Jones, I need to ask you a couple more questions??

Jake: "Do I need a lawyer?"

Pliceman: "No, we know it wasn't you that did this, it was a robbery, what we need to know is why she was where she was and what is missing from her."

Jake: "I haven't seen her wallet, but I think all that was in it was her drivers license and a couple of dollars."

Policeman: "What about from her body? Rings, Braclets, and so on?"

Jake: "One minutes, I'll go look."

 Jake returned to his wifes room and discovers that her wedding rings were missing. Then he returns to the waiting policeman.

Jake: "Her wedding rings are missing."

Policeman: "How much was they worth?"

Jake: "I don't know, they were given to me by my grandmother."

Policeman: "Okay, what was she doing at the location where she was robbed?"

Jake: "We had an argument and she stormed out saying she was going for a walk."

Policeman: "What was the argument about?"

Jake: "About me watching football instead of taking her out to dinner."

 A few days later Jake in his wifes room with Dr. Jackson.

Dr. Jackson: "Okay, the bandages come off today, let's see how she looks."

Dr. Jackson removes the bandages from the sleeping Sarah.

Dr. Jackson: "The grifts are healing real good."

Jake: "She doesn't look like the Sarah I knew."

Dr. Jackson: "The scars may diminish in time. Her nose doesn't look too bad, maybe we should wait util she's awake before we do anything to it."

Jake: "Dr. Jackson, it doesn't look like she's going to wake up very soon, I can't come here but a couple of hours a day, what can we do now?"

Dr. Jackson: "We have a VCR here in the hospital that we can put in here and play movies for her. She may not be able to watch them but she can will have a dialog to listen to."

Jake: "Great"

 Three months after the robbery.

Dr. Jackson: "Sarah, Sarah, can you hear me? Sarah, I know you're awake now, can't you talk to me?"

The woman on the bed with cloudy eyes looked around the room and then at the doctor and said:

"Who are you talking to?"

The doctor replied: "Sarah, I'm talking to you."

The Woman again looked around the room and then said to the doctor:

"I'm sorry but I'm not Sarah."

"Sarah, you are Sarah Jones, you have been here in the hospital for three months and your husband has been here with you every day."

The woman very wearily replied:

"You have me confused with someone else, my name is Linda Stross."

"Okay," said the doctor, "I'll leave you alone and send your husband in when he gets here."

Doctor Jackson left the patients room and told the nurse on duty: "Nurse be sure to watch the patient in 423 real close and make sure she doesn't leave her room."

"Okay Doctor Jackson." Said the nurse.

Doctor Jackson then went to his office and made a call to the hospitals psychiatrist.

"Hello, Doctor Cabes speaking."

"Doctor Cabes, this is Doctor Jackson, I have a patient that has been in a coma for three months and today she came out of it."

"That is good." Said Doctor Cabes.

"Well, Doctor Cabes, I think now she's in need of your services, she denies being who she is and says she's someone else." Said Doctor Jackson.

"Is it possible that she is indeed the person she claims to be and the hospital has made a mistake in identifying her?" Said Doctor Cabes.

Doctor Jackson declares: "Well, if she is then she has her husband fooled also. He has been here to visit her every day since she's been here."

Doctor Cabes: "I'll talk with her."

 As Doctor Cabes enters the patients room he turns a pocket recorder on.

Doctor Cabes: "Hello, how are you today?"

Linda: "I feel weak."

Dr. Cabes: "Do you know how you got here?"

Linda: "Yes, I was beaten by the gang. How long have I been here?"

Dr. Cabes: "You have been here for three months. Can you tell me what your name is?"

Linda: "My name is Linda Stross."

Dr. Cabes: "Where do you live Linda?"

Linda: "I am homeless but have been living in some empty apartments on the south side of town."

Dr. Cabes: "Are you married?"

Linda: "No."

Dr. Cabes: "Can you tell me what caused you to end up in the hospital?"

Linda: "I already told you that I was beaten by the gang."

Dr. Cabes: "Start at the beginning and tell me all about it if you feel like talking."

Linda: "It's a long story."

Dr. Cabes: "That's all right, just talk to me as long as you feel able then you can rest."

Linda: "I came to town two years ago looking for work as a factory worker and ran out of money before I could find a job."

Dr. Cabes: "Where did you come here from?"

Linda: "Chicago."

Dr. Cabes: "What about your family?"

Linda: "I don't have any family?"

Dr. Cabes: "None at all?"

Linda: "I had an uncle that raised me but he died and I had to move out of our apartment so I came here."

Dr. Cabes: "Go on with your story."

Linda: "Well, I was raised by my uncle who was very poor so I knew the street life very well so I thought. I checked the unemployment offices and went to all the factories that I knew of and was turned down by all of them so I decided to leave the city. As I was on my way to the bus station, I was robbed of what money I had left.
I wanted to report it to the police but this man came up to me and said that reporting it wouldn't help, but he could help me. I ask him if he could loan me the money for a bus ticket and he said no but he could give me a job, and a place to stay. He then took me to a dirty room in a cheap hotel and told me to stay there until he returned. The next morning he returned and brought me a hamburger and french fries and a drink. I ask him what the job was about and he told me it was an easy job. It was just entertaining a few men from out of town. It didn't take me long to realize that he wanted me to prostitute for him and I didn't feel that I had any choice at that time. Then after a year and a half, I moved out of his filth pit and moved into the empty apartments."

"I feel really tired, can we talk later?"

Dr. Cabes: "Sure, I'll be back to see you later."

 Doctor Cabes goes to the nurses station and tells the nurse:

"Nurse, don't allow anyone to visit the patient in room 423 until further notice, including her husband."

He then proceeds to the office of Doctor Jackson.

Dr. Cabes: "Dr. Jackson, it appears from the patients story that she has been wrongly identified by her husband and the hospital."

Dr. Jackson: "How could that be?"

Dr. Cabes: "Listen to this tape of her story."

Doctor Cabes listens to the tape.

Dr. Jackson: "So, what do you propose to do now?"

Dr. Cabes: "First we have to get the police involved, because is she is really Linda Stross then Sarah Jones is missing."

Dr. Jackson: "Okay, I'll call them now, will you be doing further talks with this woman?"

Dr. Cabes: "Yes, I'm anxious to hear the rest of her story. We also need to talk to her husband before he goes in to see her."

 Lt. Art Shaw arrives at Doctors Jackson's office.

Lt. Shaw: "What is this great mystery I hear about?"

Dr. Jackson: "Seems we have a situation on our hands. We have a patient that is either misidentified or she has taken on a new identity. If she is misidentified then we have a missing person of three months."

Doctor Jackson plays the tape and tells him about how the husband has been there every day for three months and has identified the woman as his wife, Sarah Jones."

Lt. Shaw: "Have you talked to the husband since she has awaken?"

Dr. Jackson: "No, we thought it would be better if we talked to you first. Would you like to interview the patient?"

Lt. Shaw: "No, not yet, I think it would be a good idea for Dr. Cabes to continue talking to the patient. I think I should talk to the husband before I talk to her."

Dr. Jackson: "Okay, I'll have my secretary give you his phone number and address."

Lt. Shaw: "That will be fine, I'll get right on it."

Lt. Shaw returns to his office and calls Jake Jones.

Jake: "Hello, Jake speaking."

Lt. Shaw: "Mr. Jones, this is Lt. Shaw with the city police department, investigations division."

Jake: "Is something wrong?"

Lt. Shaw: "We don't know yet, could you come to my office and bring a few pictures of your wife with you?"

Jake: "Is something wrong with her, please you can tell me?"

Lt. Shaw: "She's okay but I need to talk to you about her."

Jake: "I'll be right there."

Jake Jones arrives at Lt. Shaw's office.

Jake: "Hello, I'm Jake Jones, you wanted to see me about my wife?"

Lt. Shaw: "Yes, have a seat. Would you like something to drink?"

Jake: "Coffee if you don't mind."

Lt. Shaw: "How long have you been married to Sarah?"

Jake: "Four years."

Lt. Shaw: "Was you with your wife the night she was admitted to the hospital?"

Jake: "No, we had a small argument and she said she was going for a walk and then later the police came by and said that she had been admitted to the hospital.

Lt. Shaw: "Do you know what had happened to her?"

Jake: "I only know what the police reported?"

Lt. Shaw: "There was a police report?"

Jake: "Yes, they said they found her beaten and unconscious on the street and her wallet on the ground near her and all her money missing.

Lt. Shaw: "Then you identified her as your wife?"

Jake: "Not exactly, she was beaten real bad and hard to recognize."

Lt.. Shaw: "Then it's possible that the woman in the hospital is not your wife at all?"

Jake: "If she wasn't then I think I would have noticed in three months of visiting her in the hospital and also what would have happened to my wife?"

Lt. Shaw: "That's why we're investigating this. Mr. Jones, the woman in the hospital says she is not married and her name is Linda Stross."

Jake: "What's that got to do with me"

Lt. Shaw: "The woman that I'm talking about is the woman that you claim to be your wife."

Jake: "She's Awake?"

Lt. Shaw: "Yes, she woke up today."

Jake: "I need to go see her now."

Lt. Shaw: "Jake I want you to hear a tape of her discussion with the hospitals psychiatrist and talk to him before you see her."

Jake: "Okay, but I have to go now,."

 Jake Jones arrives at the hospital and goes directly to room 423. Nurse Mead meets him at the door.

Nurse Mead: "Mr. Jones, I'm sorry but you'll have to see Dr. Cabes or Dr. Jackson before you can see your wife."

Jake: "Where can I find them?"

Nurse Mead: "You can find their offices on the first floor."

 Jake Jones finds the office of Dr. Cabes and knocks on the door.

Dr. Cabes: "Come in."

Jake: "I'm Jake Jones, I was told that I need to talk to you before I see my wife."

Dr. Cabes: "Yes. I'm not sure that she is your wife. She awoke from her coma today but she denies that she is Sarah Jones and that she is even married."

Jake: "Don't you think I know my own wife?"

Dr. Cabes: "She has been scared up a lot. and that would make it hard to identify her. I would like to talk with her a little more before you see her."

Jake: "How long before I can see her again?"

Dr. Cabes: "I will talk with her again as soon as she has rested a few hours and then you and I will discuss it again. I don't think you will be able to see her again before tomorrow."

Jake: "Do you think I'll hurt her or something?"

Dr. Cabes: "I don't think you will hurt her intentionally but in her state of mind, it might. Let me find out all I can about her state of mind then if she's capable, you can see her. I'll call you as soon as I can."

 Jake Jones goes home and later that day Dr. Cabes returns to room 423. Once again Dr. Cabes turns on his pocket recorder.

Dr. Cabes: "Hello Linda, do you feel like talking now or should I come back later?"

Linda: "I feel hungry but I guess that won't stop me from talking."

Dr. Cabes: "I'll tell the nurse to get you something to eat."

Doctor Cabes goes out of the room and tells the nurse to order her something lite to eat, and then returns to the room.

Dr. Cabes: "Can you tell me what happened on the night you were injured?"

Linda: "I was on my way to one of my Johns and I seen this woman being robbed, two men had her wallet taking money out of it and was threatening to kill her, I tried to back away but they saw me and grabbed me. I saw the woman run but then everything went black."

Dr. Cabes: "So she got away?"

Linda: "How should I know? The next thing I knew I was waking up here in the hospital. If I was to bet on it, I'd say she didn't get far."

Dr. Cabes: "Do you know what she looked like?"

Linda: "It was dark but she was about my size and build. How long do I have to stay in the hospital?"

Dr. Cabes: "We need to check a few things first but if your muscles and appetite are okay then it shouldn't be but a few days."

Linda: "I guess it really doesn't matter when I get out since I have no place to go but back to the streets."

Dr. Cabes: "When you were brought in to the hospital you were identified as Sarah Jones, because there was a wallet found near you with that identification in it."

Linda: "That was probably the woman that was being robbed."

Dr. Cabes: "Sarah Jones is married and her husband also identified you as his wife and has been here every day since you have been here to visit you."

Linda: "I'm sorry for him, but I am not his wife."

Dr. Cabes: "With what you know, would you mind meeting him?"

Linda: "I don't mind if you'll be here also."

Dr. Cabes: "Also since you aren't Sarah Jones, the police will want to talk to you."

Linda: Why would they want to talk to me?"

Dr. Cabes: "Since you're not Sarah, then Sarah is missing and what you have told me, she may be dead."

Linda: "Sure, I'll talk to them also."

Dr. Cabes: "I'll have the police to come by first, then tomorrow I'll have Mr. Jones to come in."

Linda: "Fine, just get me somthing to eat please."

Dr. Cabes: "Food will be here soon, I'll see you later."

Linda: "Take your time, I have no place to go."

 Doctor Cabes goes back to his office and calls Dr. Jackson and fills him on the situation then calls Lt. Shaw.

Lt. Shaw: "Lt. Shaw Speaking, how may I help you?"

Dr. Cabes: "This is Dr. Cabes, I think you need to come back to the hospital, we have discovered more information on Sarah Jones."

Lt. Shaw: "I'll be right there, oh, has the husband seen her yet?"

Dr. Cabes: "No, we told him to wait until we are finished with our investigation."

Lt. Shaw: "It might be a good idea for him to meet me there and identify her while she is awake."

Dr. Cabe: "Okay, I'll call him and tell him to meet you here."

Lt. Shaw: "Fine, I'll be there shortly."

 Lt. Shaw arrives again at the hospital and goes to the office of Dr. Cabe. Dr. Cabe plays the new tape for Lt. Shaw."

Lt. Shaw: "I suppose there isn't much for me to ask her that you haven't already ask but I would like for Mr. Jones to look at her and make his identification again."

Jake Jones arrives.

Lt Shaw: "Mr. Jones, we have reason to believe that the woman hospitalized is not your wife. We would like for you to identify her again for us."

Jake: "Okay."

Lt. Shaw: "It's very important that you don't get upset in the room with her. If she says that she don't know you, leave it at that for the time being."

 Lt. Shaw, Jake, and Dr. Cabes proceeds to room 423.

Dr. Cabes: "Linda, I want you to meet these men. This is Lt. Shaw of the police department's investigation division."

Linda: "Lt. Shaw."

Lt. Shaw: "Hello Linda, we won't be here long, I just wanted to meet you."

Linda: "Okay."

Lt. Shaw: "Linda, do you know this other man?"

Linda: "No, should I?"

Lt. Shaw: "He is Jake Jones, does the name sound familar."

Linda: "No."

Lt. Shaw: "He says he is your husband, what do you think?"

Linda: "Mr. Jones, I'm sorry, but I am not your wife. My name is Linda Stross."

Lt Shaw: "Mr. Jones, take a good look at Linda and tell me what you think."

Jake: "Behind the scars, she looks like my wife, and she also sounds like my wife."

Linda: "I'm sorry Mr. Jones, but I am just a street hooker, I'm sure your wife is a fine lady."

 Jake and Lt. Shaw departs the room.

Lt. Shaw: "Is there a chance that you could be wrong about her.

Jake: "With the scaring on her face, it could be that it's not Sarah. Of course there is a chance, but if she isn't Sarah then where is Sarah?"

Lt. Shaw: "Lets go back to Dr. Cabes' office, I want you to hear another tape."

Jake listened to the tape that Dr. Cabes had recorded. Then as tears rolled down his face:

Jake: "She's dead, isn't she."

Lt. Shaw: "We don't know that, right now we'll list her as missing."

Jake: "And then what?"

Lt. Shaw: "We'll question Linda again and see if we can get a description of the two that put her in the hospital and go from there."

 The next day Jake returns to Linda's room.

Jake: "Hello, would you mind if I come in and talk for awhile?"

Linda: "I don't mind, but I don't know how I can help you."

Jake: "I don't either but I felt that I should come and talk to you."

Linda: "So, what do you want to talk about?"

Jake: "Just tell me about yourself."

Linda told Jake the same story that she told Dr. Cabes almost word for word.

Jake: "Tell me about your life in Chicago."

Linda: "I was raised by my uncle in the poor part of town."

Jake: "Is that all you can tell me about those times?"

Linda: "I don't remember much about it."

Jake: "What are you going to do when you get out of the hospital?"

Linda: "I'll go back to the streets. I have nothing else."

Jake: "If you would like to, you can stay at my place and find a job until you get on your feet."

Linda: "And be your private whore?"

Jake: "I'm sorry that I mentioned it. I guess I had better go."

Linda: "Jake, wait a second, I have nothing better, if you are serious, what can I lose?"

Jake: "Fine, let me know when you are released."

 Later that day Lt. Shaw returns to Linda's Room.

Linda: "I see you can't live without me."

Lt. Shaw: "Funny, now can you tell me any more about the robbers that did this to you?"

Linda: "It was two men, I didn't know them. This happens all the time on the streets, what's so important about them?"

Lt. Shaw: "Since you reject being Sarah Jones, that makes her missing now for more that three months, I would suspect she was killed that night and it's important that we find killers."

Linda: "Well if you put it that way, I can only say that I didn't get a good look at them, it was dark and I was busy getting mugged."

Lt. Shaw: "So it seems that you can't help us to find the responsible party so, if you think of anything else, give me a call."

Linda: "I sure will, what do I call you?"

 Lt. Shaw walks out.

A week after Linda was awake.

Dr. Jackson: "Are you ready to be released?"

Linda: "Sure, can you call me a taxi?"

Dr. Jackson: "I can have the nurse to call you one."

Linda: "Never mind, I can get my own ride. So, who is paying my tab?"

Dr. Jackson: "I don't get involved in billing but I would imagine since you have no assets and you're not on the welfare role that you'll be a pro bono pubilco. Unable to pay, and the bill will be desolved.

 Linda Calls Jake Jones.

Jake: "Hello."

Linda: "Your private whore is being released, is my taxi ready?"

Jake: "You know I resent that comment."

Linda: "Yeah but I'm bored, I mean, I've been asleep for a lifetime."

Jake: "I'll be right there."

Linda: "You might bring me something to wear if you have anything handy. That cop outside might not like me walking out the door naked."

Jake: "I'll see what I can find."

Linda and Jake is in Jake's car on the way to his house.

Linda: "You do know that with this face, I might have a problem finding a job?"

Jake: "Do you have any special qualifications?"

Linda: "Is laying on my back a special Qualification?"

Jake: "Maybe you could find a job as a comedian."

Linda: "Good idea. I could wear a mask and go by the name of the Masked Fundee.

 They arrive at Jake's home.

Linda: "What will your neighbors think of you bringing me home with you?"

Jake: "I don't know any of my neighbors so who cares?"

Linda: "What about relatives, parents, siblings?"

Jake: "They already know about it and wish you the best in your recovery."

Linda: "So where is our bedroom"?"

Jake: "This is your bedroom on the right, mine is the one on the left."

Linda: "Okay, I get the point, I'll start searching for a job in the morning."

Jake: "Do as you feel your able to do, and when you feel like doing it. I am not going to rush you into anything."

Linda(With a Grin): "Okay."

 A few months later at the home of Lt. Shaw.

Lt. Shaw: "This movie seems familar, have we seen it before?"

Mrs. Shaw: "I don't believe so."

Lt. Shaw: "Every scene is like I've seen it before or I've been there."

Mrs. Shaw: "Maybe it remind you of one of your investigation cases."

Lt. Shaw: "That's it, it's just like the Linda Stross story.

Mrs. Shaw: "That's the actress's name. Maybe she sold the rights to her story."

Lt. Shaw: "Check the TV guide and see when this movie came out."

Mrs. Shaw: "Five years ago."

Lt. Shaw: "Nope, can't be, it's too old. Sure is amazing how it is so like her story and the same name also, wow. What's the name of this movie?"

Mrs. Shaw: "Lost in the city."

 Another week went by and Lt. Shaw couldn't get this movie off of his mind, but what to do about it was a mystery, if anything. So Lt. Shaw decided to start with the hospital. He made an appointment to talk with Dr. Cabes.

Dr. Cabes: "Good morning Lt. Shaw, what brings you back to see us?"

Lt. Shaw: "What would it take to make someone believe that they are someone else?"

Dr. Cabes: "Are you serious?"

Lt. Shaw: "Yes, very. Last week I watched a movie that could have been written by Linda Stross, and guess what, the actors role name was Linda Stross."

Dr. Cabes: "Very interesting. Tell me more."

Lt. Shaw: "As I watched the movie, I thought that I had seen it before but I knew that I hadn't, and I thought the name was just a coincidence. But Now, I'm not convinced it was a coincidence."

Dr. Cabes : "So you think she watched this movie and copied the role into her own life?"

Lt. Shaw: "I don't think she copied it but I think Sarah Jones became this woman."

Dr. Cabes: "Nonsense, she would have to be brainwashed and seeing a movie isn't going to cause that kind of brain washing."

Lt. Shaw: "What if she seen it over and over?"

Dr. Cabes: "That's still a long shot, I know people that has seen Old Yellow at least 50 times and isn't effected in any way except they just love the movie."

Lt. Shaw: "What if they were in a coma while it played day after day?"

Dr. Cabes: "Let's go check the movies that was in Linda's room."

 They went to the nurses station.

Dr. Cabes: "Nurse Mead, can you show me the movie tapes that was played in Linda Stross's room on the VCR while she was in the coma?"

Nurse Mead: "I think there was only a couple, we don't have many. Just a second and I'll check."

Nurse Mead goes to the utility closet and looks around for a second and comes back:

Nurse Mead: "I can only find one."

Dr. Cabes: "What is the name of it?"

Nurse Mead: "Lost in the City. It's an old movie."

Dr. Cabes and Lt. Shaw stands looking at one another for awhile reading each others minds.

Lt. Shaw: "Okay, proof enough for you?"

Dr. Cabes: "Sounds like you found the needle in the hay stack, but I would try for a DNA test before making any announcements."

Lt. Shaw: "Can you help me with it?"

Dr. Cabes: "Yes, we should have some blood test from Linda that we can use, all you would have to do is get some blood from one of her close relatives. A parent would be best, or a sibling. I'll give you a sterile collection kit."

 Lt. Shaw visits the parents of Sarah Jones.

Lt. Shaw: "Mr. Green, I hate to bother you but I came to ask a favor of you that might help in finding your daughter."

Mr. Green: "Sure, I am willing to do anything I can to help. What is it that I can do?"

Lt. Shaw: "Prick your finger with a needle and give me some blood."

Mr. Green: "This isn't funny Lt. Shaw."

Lt. Shaw: "I'm not trying to be funny, I am serious, I need the blood for a DNA test."

Mr. Green: "Of course, I should have known that. Just a second and I'll find a needle."

Lt. Shaw: "No need, I have a sterile collection kit right here."

Mr. Green: "We have lost hope in finding Sarah alive but maybe if you find her body, we can at least give her a decent burial."

Lt. Shaw: "Never lose hope Sir."

Lt. Shaw returns to Dr. Cabe's office with the blood sample."

Dr. Cabes: "This will take a few days to get the results."

Lt. Shaw: "If we are right, how did this happen?"

Dr. Cabes: "In that case, I would say that Sarah Jones is suffering from amnesia, however her mind has been replaced with a new memory system."

Lt. Shaw: "Will her old memory every come back?"

Dr. Cabes: "That is something that only time will tell."

 A few days later Lt. Shaw receives a call from Dr. Cabes.

Dr. Cabes: "Lt. Shaw, we were right Linda Stross is Sarah Jones."

Lt. Shaw: "The DNA test proved tha they are the same person?"

Dr. Cabes: "Within a 1 in 50 million probablity."

Lt. Shaw: "That's close enough for me. So, what do we do next?"

Dr. Shaw: "I'll call them in and tell them, it might take some doing to convince Sarah that she isn't Linda Stross, and she might need some counseling after she hears."

Lt. Shaw: "Okay, if you would send me a report, I can close the missing person case on Sarah Jones."

 As soon as they finished talking Dr. Cabes calls Jake Jones and his wife Sarah.

Jake: "Hello."

Dr. Cabes: "Hello Jake, this is Dr, Cabes, can you come in for a few minutes? I really need to talk to you and to Linda."

Jake: "Sure but what is this about?"

Dr. Cabes: "I'd rather tell you when you get here."

Jake: "Okay, we'll be right there as soon as we can."

Jake: "Linda, Dr. Cabes wants to see us both in his office."

Linda: "When?"

Jake: "Now, it must be important, but I can't imagine what he wants to see us about."

Linda: "Okay, let's go."

 Jake and Linda at Dr. Cabes office.

Dr. Cabes: "Thank you both for coming. How are things going with you?"

Jake: "Well, Dr. Cabes, actually we have fallen in love since we've been together but we can't get married until Sarah has been missing for five years unless I file for divorce and I can't make myself do that."

Dr. Cabes: "What if I told you it was necessary?"

Jake: "You mean to wait five years?"

Dr. Cabes: "No to get married."

Jake: "We believe in marriage."

Dr. Cabes: "So do I, and we have just found out that Linda is indeed your wife Sarah.

Jake: "How can that be?"

Dr. Cabes explained the whole thing to them.

Sarah: "I thought things in the house was starting to look like I had been there before, now I can see why."

Dr. Cabes: "That's a good sign, it means that you will probably regain your memory in time. It may take awhile."

Sarah: "I have plenty of time, and I am comfortable with who I am now, so when I remember, it will be another new life."

The case of the missing Sarah Jones was closed, and Jake and Sarah was remarried anyway just to celebrate, and she did regain her old memory within a couple of years.
